EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
Karen Aubert was graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition. Her yearlong internship experience following graduation was conducted at the prestigious Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. She has also completed additional training in the area of diabetes, and is a Certified Diabetes Educator. As a registered dietitian/nutritionist, she has had 19 years of experience and expertise in a variety of areas, and addresses nutritional needs as they relate to the physical, emotional and psychological well-being of each patient.
EXPERIENCE
Karen has been with INTROSPECT as a nutrition therapist since January 1994 specializing in Medical Nutrition Therapy and Eating Disorders. This includes areas such as high cholesterol and cardiac concerns, diabetes, and gastrointestinal disorders, as well as eating disorders/ compulsive overeating and weight management. Karen also can assist with general health and wellness concerns, childhood and adolescent nutrition, renal(kidney) disorders and sports nutrition. Karen is able to meet with patients individually or in group settings giving the direction and reinforcement needed for the successful long-term change in eating habits. Additionally, Karen is able to work closely with a patient’s referring physician or therapist, if needed, in order to help that patient realize their nutritional goals.
HOURS
Karen is available during day, evening and Saturday hours.
PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS
Karen is affiliated with the American Dietetic Association, SCAN (Sports, Cardiac and Eating Disorders), and AADE (American Association of Diabetes Educators). She also works part-time at a local hospital in their diabetes education unit to stay up-to-date with current trends in the diabetes field.
