fool would persist in his folly he would become wise." I have been a licensed psychologist since 1987 and have primarily focused on treating adults with a variety of psychiatric illnesses and problems. My belief is that most people are not responsible for their psychiatric problems. Rather, I believe that most psychiatric illnesses and psychological problems are inherited as a result of biology, life’s circumstances, and a natural instinct to avoid the anxiety, pain and discomfort required for change and healing. Unfortunately, it may take great distress to finally seek out help. My treatment philosophy is based on what we have learned from the extensive academic studies of psychotherapy. First of all, we know that it works. 80% of individuals who engage in psychotherapy benefit from it. We’ve also come to know that no one type of treatment approach has been proven to be superior to another. Therefore a therapist must be able to utilize a number of different methods with his/her patient. Consequently, I align my treatment based on my patient’s preferences and their constant feedback to understand what is and what is not working for them. What we have also come to understand is the importance of the patient-therapist match in order to maximize the benefit of psychotherapy. It is possible to determine early in the process whether or not it is an appropriate match. If it is not, I will refer you to a better-suited colleagues here at INTROSPECT or elsewhere. In addition to providing psychotherapy and counseling for a variety of problems and disorders I also evaluate patients considering bariatric surgery for morbid obesity. I have been
Associate Medical Director of INTROSPECT for the past 8 years. Consequently,
in addition to direct patient care, I also oversee our administrative
and clinical staff. This allows me to take some credit for the great works
INTROSPECT provides to our community. Our entire staff is a team of sensitive
and compassionate individuals. Our providers are well educated and trained
professionals, all licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
